LASER: Tatoo Removal

Are you regretting your decision to get a tattoo? If so, you’re not alone. Every day, Dr. Warmuth meets with patients at the Skin Care Center who are having second thoughts about their tattoos and would like to have them removed.

At the Skin Care Center, we utilize medical lasers to lighten or remove unwanted tattoos. During the procedure, an intense beam of light is directed toward the tattoo. Different wavelengths of light are used to treat different colors of tattoo ink. The ink particles of the tattoo absorb light from the laser and break it up into tiny fragments. The body then absorbs these fragments and gets rid of them naturally. This process generally takes a few weeks. Tattoos with large particles of ink often require multiple treatments.

Am I a Candidate?

The best candidates for laser tattoo removal are people with fair skin and superficial tattoos on the arms, buttocks, chest, or legs. Tattoos in areas where there is less body fat, such as the ankles and fingers, are more difficult to treat.

The success rate of laser tattoo removal depends on several factors, including the size, location, application, age, and color of the tattoo. To determine the potential success rate of laser tattoo removal for your specific tattoo and skin type, meet with Dr. Warmuth at the Skin Care Center for a consultation.
