Microdermabrasion is a popular treatment that reduces the signs of aging skin and sun exposure. It takes about an hour to perform and can be utilized on the face, neck, or arms. After treatment with microdermabrasion, most people are able to resume their normal daily activities almost immediately.
How It Works
During the microdermabrasion procedure, a highly controlled vacuum is used to move microscopically abrasive crystals over the skin’s surface. The crystals gently remove the outer layer of the skin and cause little to no discomfort. After several treatment sessions over the course of months, the younger, softer skin moves to the surface and a significant improvement in you skin’s tone and texture becomes noticeable.
Am I a Candidate?
Microdermabrasion is most effective for patients in the early stages of aging. Microdermabrasion can also be used to treat patients with mild acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and large or clogged pores. Both light-skinned and dark-skinned patients can benefit from microdermabrasion.
What to Expect
During the microdermabrasion procedure, Dr. Warmuth presses a vacuum-like device against the treatment area. The device removes imperfections, buffs the skin, improves circulation and lymph flow, and enhances the skin’s texture. Your face may be slightly red after treatment, but the redness should subside within an hour.
